Thanks to Lyss for reviving the Shae Sister blog!! I know you are all out there creating and we want to be inspired - so SHARE!

I've been wanting to make a growth chart for a long time. I saw one at PB kids that I loved that looked like a gigantic ruler! I knew I could make one for cheaper than $150 so I bought a sweet piece of wood from Home Depot for $15 but you could even get one cheaper if you prefer to stain it - I went with the raw grain look. I ended up using a Sharpie to draw the measuring lines and then I found some sweet sticker/numbers @ Hobby Lobby and Viola!  Here is is in all it's glory. We have fun measuring the kids and they love to see how much they've grown. Now we can take it with us where ever we move... cause we are ALWAYS moving ;)

(sorry for the crummy phone photos)

Transportation Wall Art

I've got a thing for Dwell studio. I love their kids stuff too! Unfortunately, it's a little out my price range (unless you find their line at Target!) I just love this boys transportation collection.

I wanted to add some art work to the boys room but it can be pricey, so with the Dwell theme in mind..
I came up with these! (sorry I don't have a close up.) I just penciled on the simple outlined vehicles to some canvas I bought at Walmart and painted it in with acrylic paint. I really really like the finished product and I was able to match the colors to their room!

family face book

Eva got lucky and scored two spots :)

I saw this cute idea somewhere. I feel bad I can't give credit to someone but it's pretty simple. Living far from family and with everyone adding on spouses and children it can be hard to remember and learn names! I thought this was a fun, simple way to let the kids put a "name" to a "face". I plan on printing these photos in 4x6 and putting them in a little cheap photo album for them to thumb through at church or in the car!

If any of you want copies, let me know! It will save you some time in PS :)

Flower Pillow

I saw THIS tutorial and knew I just HAD to make one :)
I'm happy to say that this was really quite easy and was under $10 to make a fun accent pillow.  I actually found the exact fabric they use in the tutorial, which I really liked and it was %50 off at JoAnns. However, she recommends using the felt you buy on a bolt and I just used the felt squares you can buy four for $1. I had to go back and buy one more so I would recommend buying 5 if you go the cheaper route like I did. I'm happy with the final look of it. I wish my pillow was fluffier or bigger to really fill it out. I made this in just a couple hours!
It was fun, easy project and I really want to make more after I found these great fabrics on sale at IKEA :)

crafting!

Well, the snow found us and we've been staying warm inside but trying not to go stir crazy!

For awhile now, Zaney's been asking me to tie his blanket around his neck so he can "fly". I decided I would sew the boys more official SUPER HERO capes. I googled kids capes and found THIS tutorial. It was pretty easy to follow but for the most part I just made my own pattern. It was a fairly inexpensive project. I let Zane pick out the colors for his cape and bought felt squares for super cheap at JoAnns. I wanted the capes to be reversible for more play options. You can always count on their coupons to help keep your project cost down. I really love how these turned out. I only wish I took a picture of the other side (a batman symbol). I finished these pretty quick (two nights, I worked after the boys went down) I love that I was able to crank these out and see how excited the boys were for a new 'dress up' :)

now my boys can SAVE THE WORLD!
